One of the best things about Kauai is the idea of stepping into this space that very few have explored; so much of the island is untouched by man-made structures and this keeps travelers marveled by the natural beauty. The most common way of venturing through the far corners of the island is by hiking, but there will be areas that you will find inaccessible by foot and without special permission. You could take a tour on a helicopter or charter plane, that will get you some great pictures, but the experience of being seated thousands of feet in the air is very different than actually being in the heart of it. My suggestion? ATV tours are incredibly fun, you can choose to operate your own vehicle or sit back and enjoy the ride as you drive through parts of Kauai that are closed off to the general public.
There are three companies that offer off-roading adventures:
Travel through the historic Kipu ranch or tour the Koloa Sugar Plantation, both locations are sure to provide a lot of fun for you and your family. Remember, if you aren’t coated with mud by the end of it all, you’re doing it wrong. There are educational take-a-ways throughout the activity, as well, the guides are there to make sure you are not only having fun, but also learning more about the island, specifically the location that you are touring.
Let’s switch up the itinerary and check “ATV’ing on Kauai” off the list!
