Meaning of Aloha

In Hawaii, it is common to hear the word “Aloha” used as a greeting to say hello or goodbye. It is also a word used to express love, peace and compassion. Aloha has a deeper meaning as a way of life, the essence of relationships in which each person is important, where there is mutual regard and affection in all relationships, and where warmth and caring is extended with no obligation in return. Each person must think and emote good feelings toward others. This way of life is called “The Aloha Spirit.”
