The Shops at Kukuiula

Return to Experience Kauai

The Shops at Kukuiula are located in Poipu, off the roundabout and western bypass road (Ala Kalanikaumaka). You can enter The Shops at Kukuiula from Ala Kalanikaumaka or the Lawai Road side (as it heads to Spouting Horn).  We love to walk to Kukui’ula Shopping Center and it’s accessible to all parts of Poipu within a 45-minute walk or a five-minute drive. Whaler’s Cove, Kuhio Shores, Hale Pohaku Kai and Lali’s Cottage are all within a ten-minute walk or less. Wonderful restaurants, interesting shops and one of the best farmer’s markets on Kauai. The Farmer’s Market is held on Wednesdays from 3:30 pm to 6 pm. Parking can be limited so it’s advisable to get there early. There is live music, locally grown fruits and vegetables, Kauai Coffee, spices, jams, cheese and many other items to choose from. South shore chefs take turns in demonstrating how to prepare their favorites. The fine dining restaurants are Eating House 1849 by Roy Yamaguchi, Kukuiula Tapas Bar & Grill, Merriman’s Fish House, and Tortilla Republic Grill (upstairs), which has a wonderful Saturday and Sunday brunch downstairs. For a more casual atmosphere there is Bubba Burgers, Dolphin Sushi & Fish Market, Living Foods Market & Café, Merriman’s Downstairs Café, Savage Shrimp, and Tortilla Republic Margarita Bar. For those with a sweet tooth there are Lappert’s Hawaii and Uncle’s Shave Ice & Smoothies.

Fashion, Gifts & Décor can be viewed and purchased at Blue Ginger/Blue Ginger Kids, Halele’a Gallery, Mahina, Maile Organics, Ocean Jewelry & Gifts, Olivine Beach Boutique, Palm Palm, Poipu Surf, Quiksilver, Red Koi Collection, Scott Hanft Photography, Sunglass Hut and Tommy Bahama. In fact, on the second Saturday of every month an Art Walk is held from 6pm to 9pm. Local artists are showcased at the monthly Art Walk. The galleries feature a variety of art ranging from vivid landscapes and sculptures handcrafted to capture the peaceful essence of the island, to internationally acclaimed contemporary art. Living Foods Market has the largest selection of organic produce on the island. They carry gluten free, local products, specialty items and fresh baked items. They also cater small events from their café.
